Internet Explorer with JAWS part 4
Filling in online forms.
Below is an example of a typical online form. Many Web sites will require that you submit a form with your contact information followed by the pertinant information related to your order.Note: Num pad + will turn forms mode off if needed.
Let's say you have found a Web site that offers space travel to the moon and 8 planets. The below form uses all of the various types of form elements that you might encounter when filling in an online form.-
Edit box.
Type the appropriate text . -
radio button.
Think of radio buttons as a radio tuner. Only one frequency can be chosen. Use up and down arrows. -
check box.
Press Spacebar to check, or uncheck selection. -
combo box.
Only one option can be chosen from a list.
Pres Enter to open the combo box. Several items are listed but only one is ever visible. Combo boxes, therefore, take up less real estate on Web pages.
Note: Occasionally you will need to press Alt down arrow to access list items in a combo box. -
extended select box.
Like a combo box but allows for multiple selections. An example is shown in the next part of this tutorial. -
button.
Submits the form.
TIP: Listen to your screen reader, as it offers the instruction on how to interact with the form element.
